Getting Started

What is Plot a Trip?
Plot a Trip is a visual trip planner built around an interactive world map. Drop pins for destinations, draw color-coded routes between stops, track budgets with multi-currency support, and collaborate with your travel group in real time.
Is Plot a Trip free to use?
Yes! The Explorer plan is completely free and includes everything you need to plan trips — unlimited stops, snap-to-road routing, multi-currency budget tracking, full itinerary builder, and more. No credit card required.
Do I need to create an account?
Yes, a free account is required to save your trips. You can sign up with email or Google in seconds. Your trip data is stored securely and accessible from any device.

Features

How does the map-based planning work?
Click anywhere on the interactive map to drop a pin for a destination. Each stop can include accommodation, activities, notes, and budget details. Draw color-coded route lines between stops to visualize your travel path with real distances and durations.
Does Plot a Trip support multi-currency budgets?
Yes. You can log expenses in any currency and Plot a Trip automatically converts them using live exchange rates. This is especially useful for trips across multiple countries where you encounter different currencies.
Can I collaborate with my travel group?
With a Navigator plan, you can invite up to 10 people to co-edit a trip in real time. Everyone sees the same map, can add stops, vote on activities, leave comments, and track shared expenses. Only the trip owner needs the paid plan — collaborators join free.
What transport types are supported for routes?
Plot a Trip supports driving, walking, cycling, transit, and flight routes. Driving, walking, and cycling routes snap to actual roads via Mapbox Directions. Flight routes display as great-circle arcs on the map.

Pricing & Plans

What's included in the free Explorer plan?
Up to 3 active trips, unlimited stops and routes, snap-to-road routing, color-coded transport lines, full itinerary builder, timeline view, multi-currency budget tracking, auto exchange rates, and read-only trip sharing.
What does the Navigator plan add?
Unlimited active trips, real-time collaboration with up to 10 editors, live presence indicators, activity voting and comments, cost splitting with settlement summaries, PDF/calendar/CSV export, document vault, smart packing lists, and priority support. Starts at $2.50/month billed annually.
How does the 14-day free trial work?
When you upgrade to Navigator, you get full access to all Pro features for 14 days — no credit card required. If you decide it's not for you, your account simply reverts to the Explorer plan with no charge.
Do my friends need a paid plan to collaborate?
No! Only the trip owner needs a Navigator plan to enable collaboration features. Anyone you invite can join as an editor or viewer for free.
Can I switch between monthly and annual billing?
Yes, you can switch at any time from your account settings. When switching to annual, you'll receive a prorated credit for your remaining monthly subscription. Switching to monthly takes effect at the end of your annual billing period.
What happens if I cancel my Navigator subscription?
You keep access to Navigator features until the end of your billing period. After that, your account reverts to the Explorer plan. All your trips and data are preserved — you just lose access to Pro features like collaboration, cost splitting, and export.
